Kirios de Adrada Ricotí solidarity wine

En Burgos, Specifically Adrada of Haza, a town that belongs to the region of Ribera del Duero, there is also a humble winery that makes a solidarity wine. Already from its exterior design with the image of a very particular bird you can get an idea of what its objective is. The ricotí lark it's a kind of bird seriously Danger of extinction, which only inhabits certain moors of Spain and Africa. One of them is in the Burgos province, where there is also a foundation that seeks to recover the animal's natural habitat. In this homework, Kirios of Adrada and its owner Jesus Lazarus they collaborate through a very special bottle. With every sale, one euro It is destined to save the population of the exclusive bird.

The ricoti lark, threatened

As with so many other species in risk of extinction of the planet, there are some like this bird that are hardly known, but since Great Products we are going to present it. The ricotí lark is a little bird whose current population is really low and even very distributed. In the province of Burgos, specifically in the Paramo de Corcos, only about ten males live. They have been sighted by ornithologists in the area, who admit that they were previously observed in other regional points. However, as has happened to other animals, the alteration of its natural habitat it has affected them so much that they have disappeared. At least, of those common places where they lived.

This main threat of the loss of the environment is what the Alondra Ricotí Foundation, Which Jesus Lazarus -awareness through the elaboration of the solidarity wine- is a member. Along with him, others biologists, ornithologists and bird lovers, they work to try to recover the bird's habitat. But for this, they need money. What they want is to acquire several farms of individuals in the aforementioned wasteland, as well as other 85, 5 hectares of land within five years. The challenge they propose is to create an appropriate space for the conservation of the species in the Paramo de Corcos.

The hand of man, behind the problem

Once again, the human being has caused this problem of loss of natural habitat Since the Lark ricotí needs spaces with vegetation but not very high. If the land is cultivated, this is a problem for her. Thus, the ideal terrain is that in which there is no agricultural plantation but there is livestock activity so that the herbs do not grow too much. Now, agriculture has taken advantage of those lands, where the steppe bird and where also the cattle have descended, to use them. For this reason, it has been forced to extinction, not being able to reproduce in the area and thus increase its population.

Jesús Lázaro, conscientious and driving force

But, faced with the serious situation, Jesus Lazarus It was proposed two years ago to contribute to the recovery of the habitat so that it does not end up disappearing from the Burgos region. After twenty years making its wine products ecological en Adrada of Haza, created the Kirios de Adrada Ricotí solidarity wine. With the first vintage 2016 The bottle that launched his great desire began to be commercialized. Currently, the winegrower is already preparing his next release, with grapes from last year's harvest.

But that has not been the only work of the winemaker, because thanks to the solidarity and organic wine It has also managed to raise awareness among municipalities, researchers and other foundations. A good example of this has been the activities promoted by the Green Office of the University of Burgos to publicize the problem. Of course, one of the collaborators has been the cellar.
