La Embassy of Italy in Spain convened on November 21 at Madrid first 'Young Taster Competition in Italian Wines'. Thanks to this open initiative, tasters, sommeliers, hospitality professionals, food and beverage distribution professionals will be able to participate. Also students from training centers under 35 years of age. In short, wine lovers.

Interested candidates will have the opportunity to attend a training course and knowledge of Italian wines (optional and free, with limited places). All this is organized by the Spanish Union of Tasters in your tasting room in Madrid. It will take place from 6 to 8 November 2017 from 9,30 a.m. to 12,00 p.m. In this way, direct access will be given to the qualifying phase competition.

The content hub that will be taught in this course, in which more than twenty-five Italian labels will be tasted, are the following.

Young Taster in Italian Wines

1st Session (6/11/2017)

• Introduction to Italy as a wine country (climate, legislation, varieties, wine geography)
• Northwest (Piedmont)
• Northeast (Trentino, Friuli, Veneto)

2st Session (7/11/2017)

Central Italy (Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo)

3st Session (8/11/2017)

• El Southern Italy and Islands (Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia)

The young contest taster in Italian wines It is made with the collaboration of Italian Foreign Trade Institute (ICE). Also from the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Spain (CCIS). Likewise, the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC) and the international school of Italian gastronomy ALMA.

It wants to train, give visibility and offer opportunities to young tasters. It is undoubtedly an opportunity for Spaniards and Italians who are in Spain. Those who wish to specialize in wines from the country of Pizza.

In this way, the winners of the contest will have the opportunity to participate in a free training trip in Italy. It will be in the prestigious ALMA International School of Italian Gastronomy. Thus, they will be able to access professional training experiences in wineries, wine bars and renowned Italian restaurants.
