La Sustainable Restaurants Foundation pioneer in training and consulting on sustainability in restoration together with Forest Bank create an alliance to promote low-emission restoration.

Forest Bank partners with the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation to help all those restaurateurs who want to offset their carbon footprint. All this through an agreement from which the members of this foundation throughout Spain will benefit. Establishments that adhere to the program will be able to offset their emissions and obtain a reduced CO2 footprint certificate.

The hotel industry, which is an intensive activity in the use of resources such as energy and food, has a long way to go in terms of sustainability. Among other training activities for its members, the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation has been promoting good practices aimed at minimizing food waste in restaurants for some time.

Sustainable Restaurants Foundation and Forest Bank

Sustainable Restaurants Foundation It is the pioneer entity in terms of sustainable restoration at the national level. The foundation was born in 2022 as a merger of several associations that for years have worked for dissemination and training in terms of sustainability. All this with the aim of moving towards a more sustainable and responsible restoration. The commitment to local, ecological products, respect for the environment and the planet as well as the people who are part of the sector are part of the DNA of the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation.

Among the already established alliances of the FRS are a group of companies that work for sustainability in the sector and support the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation. All restaurateurs and companies in the sector who want to join and form part of the restoration ecosystem that works to improve sustainability with the conviction that it is the best path for a more prosperous future are part of the Foundation. In the words of Sergio Gil, president of the Foundation, "this alliance opens another path for all restaurateurs who want to be aware of their carbon footprint and begin to improve and offset it."

Forest Bank, a proposal adapted to SMEs

Forest Bank is the first carbon footprint compensation company aimed at SMEs and individuals. For this reason, this alliance with the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation is strategic for the startup, which is promoting among its users the creation of the first communities of zero CO2 emissions people on the planet.

The Forest Bank service is offered in two modalities: Basic and Premium. With the first, for each year that the client stays, trees are planted to mitigate 200 kg of CO2 annually for 35 years. A footprint offset that you can accumulate and, finally, if you don't need it in the future, you can sell it in the form of carbon credits. In the Premium service, compensation is initially offset from 1 Tn/year of CO2.

In the first quarter of 2023, Forest Bank will offer the measurement of the CO2 footprint to the establishments of the Fundación Restaurantes Sostenibles adhered to the program. Later, he will offer them to participate in a reforestation designed for this association. The company already has several projects throughout Spain but the idea is to make a joint project just for the FRS.

Thanks to this collaboration agreement signed between Forest Bank and the Sustainable Restaurants Foundation, the Spanish hotel industry will take a firmer step towards greater sustainability. A key aspect not only because of the regulations that come from the EU, but because it is an increasingly pronounced demand among customers.
