An organic beer

The Barge is a organic beer with certificate provided by the European Union. It is made with raw materials from the Sierra de Madrid, without chemicals and bottled in materials that respect the environment. In addition to producing a malted beer of great quality, has five other varieties on the market.

These five types of beer combine tradition and innovation. From the Peñalara, with hardly any alcohol and refreshing, to the Maliciosa, with fruity touches of passion fruit and mango. All of them are made in the factory they have in Becerril de la Sierra, a municipality in the Sierra de Madrid.

Entrepreneurs in the Sierra de Madrid

A marriage began seven years ago with this entrepreneurial project in full Sierra de Madrid. After a period of adaptation, they converted their business into a cooperative, of which three young people are also part. Mónica Somacarrera and her husband have trained these boys as brewmasters. Another objective of the project is dignify and promote work in the rural world.

In addition to their brewing work, the members of the cooperative work to promote the proximity consumption. In its facilities they also have a bar-shop where they serve and sell their beers and other products from the area, such as cheese or sausages. The owners also highlight the role of women in the rural environment, a work on the rise and that before was more invisible.
