The story of José Andrés, a deserved success
José Andrés is one of the best known chefs internationally. He was born in Mieres, in Asturias; although he started cooking in Barcelona, where he moved with his family as a child. 2021 Princess of Asturias Award, a recognized merit
The Princess of Asturias Foundation has decided to highlight the great work of the NGO workers and, of course, that of José Ramón Andrés by awarding them one of his famous awards. Thanks to their development of exemplary forms of humanitarian assistance and the help they bring to the most disadvantaged in extreme situations, the last of the eight international awards went to them.
They were opting for the award 35 candidacies from 16 nationalities different, so the jury of the Princess of Asturias Foundation it has not been so easy when choosing the winner in its XLI edition. Despite this, these awards are intended, according to its Regulations, to reward "scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out by people, institutions, group of people or institutions in the international arena", so that according to to these principles WCK she was clearly deserving of this reward after so many years of helping the whole world.
