Fruit of the union of Benjamin de Rothschild and Vega Sicilia wineries the project of making great wines was born in The Rioja. After more than five years studying the territory and buying vineyards, in 2009 they obtained the first vintage of the Macán and Macán classic wines.

The area is characterized by poor clay-calcareous soils. Its climate is mild with an Atlantic character and influences from Mediterranean and continental currents. The predominant variety is the tempranillo. The wine production of this winery is included in the Denomination of Origin Rioja. It comprises three subzones: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Baja.
