The 10th Barcelona Beer Festival arrives

The 10th Barcelona Beer Festival arrives this coming weekend and it does so again at La Farga de l'Hospitalet, its usual venue in its latest editions.

The most important craft beer meeting in southern Europe returns this weekend from Friday the 14th to Sunday the 16th of October. And to celebrate it, it will be the largest in its history, in terms of quality and offer. Thus, more exclusive international beers will be offered, as well as more national and local offer. Also more parallel activities, more gastronomic pairings, in short, it will be more and better, to turn the city of Barcelona into the world capital of beer.

Barcelona Beer Festival the achievement of consolidation

In this way, the festival that began in the Convent of Sant Agustí in Barcelona, and went through the Cúpula de las Arenas and the Cometes Hall of the Museu Marítim of Barcelona until reaching the current headquarters of the Farga de l'Hospitalet has experienced the boom of craft beer. This is how Mikel Rius, co-founder and director of the event, points it out: “the festival has evolved in these 11 years, just like the world of craft beer. It managed to gather more than 35.000 fans of good beer in 2019, in which the world of craft beer. It managed to gather more than 35.000 fans of good beer in 2019, in the last pre-pandemic edition. And it has been a springboard for other successful projects such as the Barcelona Beer Challenge or InnBrew. But the BBF has maintained its main essence of loving beer, taking care of it and putting it at the center of everything. And it continues with the same desire that prompted its creation: that what we are so passionate about is too good not to share it”.

Barcelona Beer Festival and the Cask Revolution

This birthday, which coincides with the return to "normality". It is the perfect "excuse" to offer a better BBF than ever. As for the offer of beers, the event will break its own records. It will have 168 shooters -in 2021 there were 161- that will give the visitor the chance to discover some 600 beers from some 250 brands.

The highlight, without a doubt, will be the BBF Cask Revolution space, a tribute to the germ of the BBF, designed to celebrate these 10 editions. Thus, 10 emblematic breweries will carry a unique cask for the BBF, served without a machine or pressure, only by gravity, in the English Real Ale style.

International presence

The international presence will also be very prominent, with very exclusive breweries from places like Scotland, Poland, Germany (the best beers selected by Berlin Beer Week), and Italy. These will repeat the collaboration of the last edition, with the delegation that created the Italian Grappe Ale, a 100% Italian style that fuses the best of wine and beer.

The BBF has also made a great effort to select breweries that are trending in the United States, a country that undoubtedly dictates the pace of craft beer worldwide.

More beer activities

Designed for activities for everyone, there will also be workshops for initiation to tasting, or workshops to make beer at home, for example. And for those who never have enough, and always want to learn more about what is done here and beyond our borders, there will be a significant presence of international brewers, experts in pairings.

At the Cellar we will once again see and taste the most exclusive beers, authentic “signature beers”, elevated to the gastronomic category. But in addition to looking outside, BBF 22 will also feature the Kilómetro cero beers at the Gastroteca Cervezas de Catalunya stand.

Between "beer and beer", between "bite and bite", at the X Barcelona Beer Festival you can also participate in a lot of activities. From gastronomic pairings, show cooking, to meetings with master brewers, sensory experiments, and a long etcetera. And since there is no festival without music, BBF 22 will feature sessions by DJ Xeriff (soul, boogalú, funk and reggae). Dj Oriolet (soul, reggae and grooves), DavikkA (90s techno), Jules Barsoulona (rhythm soul & funk), Dj's pel canvi-Dj Missuri Pepinho vs. Peligru (tropical funky sessions).
