Being a ham master is registered in the CNO

There are many people in Spain who know how to cut ham, but only a very small percentage can say that they are dedicated Professionally thereto. Being a professional ham cutter is a profession that, until recently, did not have an official qualification. But this has been the case for a long time until now. He last April 12 It was confirmed that, finally, the profession of ham cutter was going to be officially registered in the NOC (National Occupational Classification).

Being a professional ham cutter and the CNO

Being a professional ham cutter does not only have a technical name: ham master. Now, in addition, he has an official degree recognized by the NOC. CNO means The National Code of Occupations, and is a classification carried out by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) whose purpose is to delimit the different occupational fields in order to be able ensure uniform treatment of statistical data. But what exactly does it mean that the profession has been recognized as official by the CNO? We can say that this achievement brings numerous advantages and that it is the first step to achieve things like:

  • The possibility of registering an employee as a cutter, at no cost.
  • Being able to register for a job offer as a ham cutter in the database with a minimum demonstrable experience of 1 year.
  • If, contrary to the previous case, you are not looking for a job but a worker, you can request a cutter as such at the Employment Center.

The reality is that achieving this goal has been a complete success, but with a very slow process behind your back. The milestone has been possible after many years of pursuing it, despite the ham culture that we have in Spain.
