A Verdejo DO Rueda in Madrid awarded

GREEN

La DO Rueda lands for the second year in Madrid with the campaign 'Things by their Name: Ask for a Wheel when you want a Verdejo'. The denomination of origin offers immediate prizes and raffles wine tourism experiences. The draw will be between consumers who use the term "Rueda" when requesting a green.

24 establishments in the Madrid neighborhoods of Malasaña, Chueca, Ibiza, Ponzano, La Latina and Olavide participate in this initiative. It begins this Thursday, May 17 and its objective is that white wine consumers enjoy the quality offered by the wines of the DO Rueda. All of them made with the Verdejo variety, native to this Designation of Origin.

"According to studies by Nielsen, 90% of consumers who ask for a Verdejo, expect the quality of a Wheel", affirms Carmen San Martín, president of the DO Adds that “On some occasions it may happen that they receive green from other areas. The important thing is that the public knows and takes into account that this variety, native to the D.O. Rueda, it is here where it develops in its maximum splendor. "

The action will be held for six consecutive weekends, between the months of May and June. This is the calendar:

  • Chueca - From May 17 to 19
  • Malasaña - From May 24 to 26
  • Ibiza - From May 31 to June 2
  • Olavide - From June 7 to 9
  • Ponzano - From June 14 to 16
  • La Latina - From June 21 to 23

Mechanics of the Verdejo contest

A team of promoters, identified with t-shirts, will be present at the participating establishments. Consumers who hear the term "WHEEL" will be surprised with prizes when they want to consume a white wine from the D.O.

In addition, among all the participants who provide their data to the promoters of the contest, six wine tourism experiences will be raffled off. This way they will know the denomination of origin in its entirety.

The hoteliers also have a prize. Among the 24 participating establishments, another wine tourism experience will be raffled off so that they can discover the characteristics of the wines in situ.
