The jury of the National Gastronomy Awards 2016, chaired by Mr. Rafael Ansón, has granted to Alejandro Fernandez, founder of the wineries Fishing Group, National Gastronomy Award 2016. A whole 'winemaking life'.

An award for dedication to Spanish oenology

Alejandro is the founder and president of the Fishing Group, made up of the Condado de Haza, Dehesa La Granja, El Vínculo and Tinto Pesquera wineries.

He is the spitting image of a self-made man and one of the pioneers of the Ribera del Duero O.D.. He opened his first winery in 1972, in a small stone press from the 45th century. He fulfilled a dream of his youth and XNUMX years later he is in charge of a group made up of four wineries. Two in Ribera del Duero, one in La Mancha and another in Zamoran lands.

It has been considered a 'revolutionary' for his own style, betting on the native grape tempranillo. He has produced highly concentrated, full-bodied wines that have been a differentiating element in the Ribera. At 85 years old, he supervises every last detail of what happens in his wineries. It can boast of leading one of the best-known wine groups. Inside and outside our borders.

National Gastronomy Award 2016

In his 42 edition, the 2016 National Gastronomy Award will be held next Monday, September 25, 2017. It will be at the Madrid Costume Museum and will be chaired by Mr. Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, Minister of Education, Culture and Sports.

Alejandro Fernandez will receive this distinguished award together with prominent personalities from the Spanish gastronomic scene. Among them, the chef Rodrigo de la Calle or the journalist Luis Cepeda. Also the Spanish Nutrition Foundation, Dinastía Vivanco, as well as the digital publication Gastroeconomy.
