California vineyard fires

For a couple of days the California vineyard fires once again ravage the American state with the wine-producing counties of Sonoma and Napa, already very affected by the fires during the past years. Everything points to a great storm with hundreds of lightning bolts which has caused more than 200 wildfires in the northern San Francisco Bay area. Currently more than 42000 acres (16.000 Ha) are burned. There is a lot of concern in the wineries.

It affects some of the wineries in the area

There is an evacuation order for a large part of the wine-producing counties of Napa and Sonoma. It seems that it has affected some wineries in the area. Specifically, one of those affected is Nichelini Family Winery, a winery established in the area since 1890 that it has lost some of its dependencies.

The California vineyard fires are approaching the famous wine route and could affect wineries such as Colgin Cellars, Continuum Estate, Chappellet, Ovid, Martinez, Bryant Family Vineyards, Montagna and Stagecoach. Although, at the moment, firewalls are being made to prevent it from affecting them, there is a high risk.

Much of the wineries were just right starting grape picking these days, a vintage that promised to be extraordinary. Many wineries were scheduled to start work at the end of one week or at the beginning of the next and nobody knows what will happen now.
