La Denomination of Origin Terra Alta has presented this morning at a press conference the International competition Grenaches du Monde 2018. This will be the official headquarters from April 11 to 15 next year. A designation that represents a unique opportunity to highlight the Garnacha de la Terra Alta. Especially its white garnacha, an emblem and sign of identity for the Designation of Origin.
A clock will mark the time remaining for the contest
During the press conference, which was held at the headquarters of the DO Terra Alta in Gandesa (Tarragona), some of the planned events have been announced. As well as the previous promotion campaign, which will start this month of October with a showroom en Receipt.
There will also be a very special act in Barcelona, coinciding with the inauguration of the 37th Exhibition of Wines and Cavas of Catalonia. It is organized by the Catalan Institute of Vinya i el Vi (INCAVI). It is a master tasting of old Grenache. All of them from the Garnachera areas par excellence in Catalunya: DO Emporda, DO Montsant, DOC Priorat and the hostess Terra Alta.
The press conference was attended by representatives of the institutions involved in organizing the contest. It has been chaired by Joan Arrufi, Chairman of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Terra Alta.
It has also accompanied him Frederic Galtier, delegate to Spain of the International competition Grenaches du Monde. As well as Carles light, Chairman of the Regional Council of Terra Alta. Once the presentation was finished, we proceeded to discover the clock which will mark the countdown to the start of the contest in April next year.
Next Monday, October 16, the first of the acts of the DO Terra Alta. It will organize it between now and April 2018 to promote the contest of the Garnachas.
The white garnachas also have a place
The event will be held at the Pavilion of the Fira de Reus between 16pm and 21pm. It is aimed at professionals in the restoration and hospitality industry of the city and the Costa Dorada. As well as the specialized press and prescribers of the world of wine. They will be able to taste a hundred references from the 25 wineries that will participate.
The act of Reus will also serve to inaugurate the traveling exhibition White Garnacha. From matter to soul, a professional path that will transport attendees to the knowledge and awareness of the grenache.
With the intervention of all the senses, over 6 seasons, the focus will be on the Catalan Grenache. Especially in the white of the Terra Alta.
