Valdepeñas

Valdepeñas and its region open their doors to the world through the Valdepeñas Wine Route Association. An initiative that aims to promote wine tourism by bringing together restaurants, wineries, hotels and much more. Bars, hostels, wine bars, travel agencies, oil mills or cheese factories complete the visitor's experience.

"The visitor has to know the heritage resources, the museum resources, where they can stay, what lines of communication they have, at what times and where they can visit or which establishments are recommended," explained the mayor of Valdepeñas and president of the DO, Jesús Martin. During the presentation of this new association, he added that "for all this to have credibility and not be a disappointment to the visitor, all these establishments have to self-examine and individually undergo an audit to be approved within the quality level."

This will be one of the commitments of the associates, who must receive training and undergo certification from an external company. Thus they will be part of the Wine Routes Club of Spain. And likewise, of the Spanish Wine Cities Association (ACEVIN). This can only be developed in places with a Denomination of Origin. In the case of Valdepeñas, it currently has 25 associates between companies and institutions.

The Valdepeñas route will cover ten towns and wineries

Currently the Valdepeñas Wine Route geographically encompasses the 10 towns throughout the entire extension of its Denomination of Origin. But it is in the process of attracting businesses from the sector that want to join the route. They are working on creating their image and website. This will show the visitor all the offer that they can access. That, regardless of the target, so other resources are accommodated. They range from low cost to the most exclusive experiences.

"It is a way of promoting the territory, wine tourism and gastronomic tourism", highlighted Manuel López Rodríguez. At the moment, he holds the position of president of the Asociación Rutas del Vino de Valdepeñas. During his speech, he stressed that “once we have a lot of business diversification we will have more tourist offer and we will make the route richer so that we make it more attractive for tourists to come to Valdepeñas and the rest of the towns in the region. Denomination of Origin, so that together we have to form these tourist packages ».

It is planned that the Valdepeñas Wine Route can be offered from next March. It will be presented at Fitur through the Castilla-La Mancha stand along with the other two Wine Routes in the region. Also those of the denomination of origin of Mancha and Manchuela. Those interested in taking part in this route can request it at the DO Valdepeñas headquarters.
