Carrefour Spain stops selling Pepsico products

Last week the French company Carrefour announced that it will stop selling products from the multinational PepsiCo. Now the French multinational announces that it will also stop marketing products PepsiCo in Belgium, Italy and Spain, as well as France. All of this is caused by the abusive and unjustified increases that PepsiCo demands from Carrefour according to the latter.

According to the EFE agency, these measures will be taken and will be effective as the products are sold out in the supermarket. Thus, to announce this measure, Carrefour has placed posters on the shelves where PepsiCo products are normally found. The informative message reads like this: “Committed to reducing inflation. “We no longer sell PepsiCo products due to unacceptable price increases.”

For its part, PepsiCo does not throw in the towel and indicates that they are negotiating with Carrefour to reach an agreement. As reported by the supermarket network, the manufacturer is demanding a price increase of 7% and although negotiations continue, they do not seem to be moving forward. Thus, although these negotiations continue, Carrefour's pressure measures are clear and are extended to other countries where its sales are very important. The affected brands are Pepsi, Alvalle, Lipton, Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Quaker and SodaStream soft drinks.

It seems that with all the thousands of Carrefour suppliers, only the multinational PepsiCo has not aligned itself with the interests of the consumer. Or perhaps, as some misguided people say, they are using it as a warning to surfers or as a free marketing and advertising campaign, as happened with the basket of 30 products for €30 a few months ago, we'll see...
