Burger King charges ketchup

Ran out of free ketchup at Burger King. Starting this month, the famous hamburger chain charges extra ketchup bags at €0,05 per bag. In this way, the product is valued and the food waste that was produced when the ketchup sauce was given away in an excessive way is avoided.

That is if the hamburger chain includes an envelope of ketchup sauce with its meals for each product purchased. As the company explains, “In our restaurants we serve the amount of sauce that we consider ideal to enhance the flavor of our products. In this way, if a customer asks for a menu, they receive a ketchup sachet for their hamburger and another for their fries free of charge”, they say from de Restaurant Brands Iberia, the company that manages the Burger King brand in Spain.

Burger King charges ketchup as an anti-waste measure

This measure is included in the fight against waste of the Burger King company. If a customer wants more sauce, he will have to pay a low price for it, encouraging a more conscious purchase. All this helps to avoid food waste, value the product and raise customer awareness.

In addition to everything indicated, it coincides with the rise in prices due to inflation. In the case of sauces, the price increase, according to the INE, has been 50%. All this reinforces the reasons why Burger King has initiated this action and that it opens a path in which more restaurant chains are paying attention.
