The economic impact generated by visits to wineries and wine museums attached to Wine Routes of Spain it has increased in 2016. By almost 11%, thus exceeding 54 million euros. Grows the wine tourism.

La Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) has released the ninth annual report. Analyze visits to wineries and wine museums that are part of your product club Wine Routes of Spain. A document that allows to know and study the habits and interests of the wine tourism in our country.

The data provided by the new report show that 2016 has been an excellent year for wine tourism. Visitor numbers have continued to increase on almost all routes associated with Wine Routes of Spain. They reflect the consolidation of wine tourism within the Spanish tourist offer.

The most visited, the Wine and Brandy Route of the Marco de Jerez

Again, these are the two routes that top the list of visits to wineries and wine museums. The Wine and Brandy Route of Marco de Jerez with 501.783 visitors. Also the Penedès Wine and Cava Route Enoturisme Penedès with 486.388 visitors.

The following positions are still occupied by the routes of Ribera del Duero, Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, Empordà and Rías Baixas. Plus Calatayud, a route that was incorporated in 2016. In such a short time, it has managed to reach fifth place in this ranking.

Autumn and spring, the preferred seasons

Regarding the temporal distribution throughout the year, Fall and Spring they are once again the preferred seasons to perform wine tourism. The months of October (322.732 visits) and September (284.193 visits) are the most fruitful for the arrival of visitors.

Closely followed by may (283.315) and August (279.214) March, June and July they also register figures that are higher than in previous years. Always above 200.000 visitors.

A very affordable wine tourism

In the case of wine museums, the average price of the standard visit is 3,71 euros. The average cost per visitor to museums is 3,76 euros. Comparing with the 2015 data, average spending has fallen slightly. But it has been offset by the increase in visitors.

Wine tourism generates more than 54 million

Thus, taking into account these data, and considering the 2.714.409 visitors registered, the report of ACEVIN determine something interesting. That the economic impact generated by these visits adhered to the Wine Routes of Spain It amounts to 54.234.752 euros. The figure represents an increase of 5,2 million euros compared to the previous year.
