Food alert on Kinder eggs

La Belgian food safety agency has ordered this Friday the closure of the manufacturing plant of the Ferrero group in Arlon (Belgium) where part of the Kindergarten eggs. The Ferrero company has withdrawn batches in various countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland and United States. All this since this week the European Health Agency is investigating numerous cases of salmonella. These could be related to the chocolate intake of the Italian group in children under ten years of age. The sick children currently being investigated are from France and United Kingdom.

For its part, the company acknowledges internal problems in its database and problems in the recovery of some batches. For all these reasons, the authority has ordered the withdrawal of all batches, regardless of the batches and production dates, of the products in the Kinder range. For its part, the agency in its statement has made it clear that it will not authorize the opening of the factory of the Ferrero group until we are sure that “it complies with all food safety regulations and requirements”.
