It even has a presence in The Rioja. Discover in this article what the project consists of and how you can live the best gastronomic experience in these places.

What is Visit GastroOH!?

It is an initiative that was born thanks to the project gaturi. This is co-financed with the European funds FEDER and his idea is most original. It consists of making SMEs in these territories competitive by offering a unique destination to the international public. So you don't have to limit yourself to a few gildas en San Sebastián if you can taste too Bayonne ham.

The optimal way is to travel by road. On this trip between Spain and France you will also enjoy forests, beaches, deserts and a wide variety of scenery. You can also taste impressive dishes in restaurants with estrella Michelin a stone's throw from every destination.

We suggest you start your adventure in the the Basque Country. In this you can enjoy the Cantabrian beyond gastronomy. You can also remember, when you get hungry, that some of the best products in gastronomy come from there. They usually end up on the tables of the steakhouses and cider houses. You can even consume them in the bars of pintxos.

What does France have?

After trying the classic marmitako you can cross the Bidasoa River by car and plant yourself in the Pays Basque. Something more picturesque than the Spanish, it stands out for sweets accompanied by hot and sparkling chocolate. In this picturesque region you can go to a bistro to try the famous Espelette pepper. I am also going to try the recipes in the bistros with the spicy spark of their famous Piment d'Espelette. These are some red peppers that the locals hang from their facades.

We return to Spain

Afterwards, his thing is to cross the Pyrenees and enjoy the forests and orchards of Navarre. In addition, you can drive through the desert of the Bardenas Reales Natural Park. It is worth mentioning that due to its beauty it was the scene of Game of Thrones.

We almost forgot to say that the route ends in The Rioja, where you can enjoy a wide assortment of the best wines. Enjoy a tasting in one of the wineries with more history.
