Son Alegre: wines and oils from Mallorca

They are cheerful

When you arrive at the Son Alegre vineyards on the magnificent island of Mallorca, you discover a different environment. Perhaps because you perceive a more natural environment - someone would say forgotten. but without a doubt that first image transmits us a respect for nature in search of a harmony that will be transferred to the final product. Its wines and its oils.

As a principle in Son Alegre, respect for the land

Son Alegre is a young winery that after more than a hundred years has recovered vine cultivation for these lands of Mallorca. With international and indigenous varieties and always respecting nature, cultivating organic and with a bio dynamic spirit.

These varieties include Chardonnay, Giró ros, Sirah, Callet, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasía and small grain Muscat.

The cultivation is carried out in an ecological way, not entering heavy machinery or tilling. Respecting the surrounding herbs and their ecosystem in which birds, insects, worms, etc. live. The roots of the herbs also structure and oxygenate the soil and make it possible to seek harmony with the environment. Phytosanitary treatments are scarce and when they are carried out they are done with small contributions of sulfur and copper sulfate.

Inside we find a modern winery inaugurated in 2015 in which technology and tradition coexist. White, red and rosé wines are made as a result of a meticulous manual selection of grapes that have been harvested in a traditional way.

The controlled fermentation, the natural yeasts, the expertise of the oenologist and the rest in French oak barrels along with time do the rest.

Olive trees are also grown on the farm following the same philosophy of organic farming. An excellent Arbequina variety oil is extracted from this.
