Sustainable and responsible fishing is essential for the Spanish consumer. This is how he transmits it  Fishing Spain, according to this organization, 80% of Spaniards consider that they should consume more seafood from sustainable sources. On the other hand, for 45% of consumers it is important that fishing be responsible. In addition, the importance of the work of fishermen to protect the seas and oceans as well as their biodiversity and ensure this sustainability is highlighted.

The organization highlights the work carried out in the fishing sector. Also the search for formulas that guarantee its viability both in the present and in the future. According to Mr. Antonio Nieto, manager of Pesca España, “we are committed to sustainable and responsible fishing. We are innovating every day to impart environmentally friendly practices. On the occasion of World Oceans Day, we want to celebrate and recognize these advances in the fishing sector. Together, we can build a future where the oceans remain a natural source of happiness and health for generations to come."

 

Sustainability and climate change in fishing

More and more people are looking for information on sustainability in fishing. The truth is that more than 80% of the fish consumed are from captures managed with sustainability criteria. It seems that awareness of climate change has helped everyone to be more respectful and aware of it. The concern about overfishing, the decline in biodiversity in the oceans and the increase in the world population puts the management of these resources on alert.

The responsible management of the seas and oceans, with the different formulas for obtaining food, is becoming increasingly important. A need for food that the world of nutrition wants to emphasize since fishing is a source of health in our diet.
