The best cheeses in the world 2019

The winners of the World Cheese Awards of this year. This time the contest was held in Bergamo (Italy) and more than 42 countries have participated. Among them, some as important as Australia, France, Spain, Italy, Chile, Russia, South Africa, and the US. This year has been the debut of Japan, after the Japanese country was authorized to export its cheeses to the European Union. The assessments were carried out in a single day. Participated 260 experts from 35 countries what they evaluated appearance, texture, aroma and flavor. Awards have been awarded bronze, silver, gold and finally Super Gold to the best cheeses in the world 2019 presented. Of the 3.804 samples, the selection was finally reduced to only 16 finalists. From that list, the international jury, which included Carlos Yescas from Mexico, Roland Barthélemy from France, Alberto Marcomini from Italy and Cathy Strange from the USA, chose the most excellent.

The three best cheeses in the world 2019

So the World Cheese Awards 2019 has awarded as best of all the Rogue River Blue from Rogue Creamery Dairy. The winning cheese is a blue cheese ecological produced by the American cheese factory in the valleys of southern Oregon. Rogue River Blue has a cave maturity of between nine and eleven months. The cheese is wrapped in organic Syrah variety vine leaves that have been previously soaked with pear liqueur. The jury highlighted its impressive flavor, its balance and its sweet and spicy notes.

With the same score (100 points) the second classified is cheese Parmigiano Reggiano Latteria Sociale Santo Stefanoand an parmesan with a maturation of 24 months. In third position and with 92 points, the classified has been a spanish cheese, Torta del Casar PDO Virgen del Prado. It is made by the Doña Francisca Cheese Factory.
