La Manchuela, new wine route

For many it is a region of passage between the capital, Madrid, and the coast, Valencia. We talk about The Manchuela, that region located between Cuenca and Albacete, which opens a new wine route destined to become a benchmark for good wines. A total of 13 wineries Castilian-La Mancha have joined this initiative that covers an eminently rural and livestock territory.

It is an area threatened by the depopulation, but blessed by the natural and landscaping wealth that being nestled between the gorges of the Júcar river and the sickles the Cabriel river. Here we present a little more the characteristics of the wine-producing place.

An extensive vineyard area in La Manchuela

In the area, a total of about 72.000 hectares of vineyards, mainly red. The queen variety is Bobal. Although to a lesser extent it is also cencibel, which is how the strain of the Tempranillo in the zone. We also find some Garnacha, although to a lesser extent.

30 percent of the crops are dedicated to white wine, mostly French grapes like Sauvignon Blanc. In addition, there is a part of the territory that is dedicated to wine ecological, which is also being appreciated and distinguished by tasters.

Among the wine producers that stand out in The Manchuela, they appear Iniesta Winery, the winery of the former player of the FC Barcelona Andres Iniesta, which in the past won trophies with football and now prizes with its wines.

But it is not the only distinguished winery. The Denomination of Origin Manchuela has just won eight medals in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles held in Switzerland beginnings of May. With these references, the new wine route The Manchuela, the third of Castilla la Mancha, vindicates the value of its culture and the rural environment. But at the same time it is emerging as a new essential destination for lovers of the wine tourism.
