Jaén and its olive trees
Since ancient times, olive oil has been one of the essentials in the more mediterranean. In fact, only one 3% of the oil is produced outside the Mediterranean area. It should be noted that Spain monopolizes almost half of world oil production. Our country is the cradle of olive oil, although to be exact the province of Jaén stands out above all the others. What is a PGI?
La IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) is one of the quality seals of the European Union. Its purpose is to identify that a certain product originates from a certain place, a region or a country, has a certain quality, has a reputation or other characteristic due to its geographical origin. Furthermore, for most products, at least one of their production, transformation or processing phases takes place in the defined geographical area. This regime was created in 1992 for agricultural and food products and, from 2009, also for wines.

In Spain there are 90 IGP's of agri-food products and 42 GPS of wines. The quality of all the products that present this seal is regulated under the European Union. No company can deceive us by assuring us that a food has a particularity from a place from which it does not come.
