Ygay Castle of the winery Marqués de Murrieta, which was named “Best Wine in the World” by the Wine Spectator publication, achieves another great milestone and excellence. On this occasion it once again unleashes the euphoria of the most prestigious international critics with its new 2012 vintage.

James Suckling, the prestigious American critic and reference in the world of wine, is the first to recognize this oenological gem. He does so after tasting more than 4.000 references, granting 100 points to Castillo Ygay 2012 vintage with his highest score.

In this way, Castillo Ygay once again makes history and establishes itself as an international benchmark of excellence and the greatest exponent of the quality of Spanish wine.

The most awarded wine

Throughout its history, this iconic Marqués de Murrieta label has received praise from all the world's critics with each vintage that is presented.

Castillo Ygay has received the desired 15 points on 100 occasions from the most prominent critics in the sector (James Suckling, Robert Parker, Decanter, Falstaff). For all these reasons, it is considered one of the most applauded wines in the world. Castillo Ygay white 1986 became the first Spanish white to receive Robert Parker's maximum score.

In 2020, it marked a before and after in the image and reputation of Spanish wine. It was the moment when it was named  “Best Wine in the World” by the American publication Wine Spectator.
