Consumption of snacks grows

For a few years now, a well-known snack multinational has promoted Aperitif Day, which is celebrated every September 19. And the consumption and fashion of the aperitif is growing in Spain. It is estimated that each Spaniard spends an average of €57/year on snacks. A custom that, as its name indicates, helps whet your appetite. Also a great reason for socialization and relaxation for many.

According to a study Fundeu The Spaniards prefer salty appetizers, so the different types of pinchos, chips, gildas, olives and some sausages are the kings of this moment that precedes the meal. Cheese is increasingly present and all of this is mostly accompanied by beer, although wine and vermouth are on the rise.

More and more healthy snacks

On the other hand, the growing concern for health in food makes healthier options appear. A good example is the increase in the consumption of vegetables or vegetable sticks accompanied by yogurt sauces, hummus, etc.

Also in the case of drinks, the presence of non-alcoholic or low-alcohol options is gaining market share. Likewise, sugar-free soft drinks or flavored waters, kombuchas, etc. gain presence in the aperitif.
