Although with some differences from the oenological perspective, in the end the experts have been able to taste some "Excellent wines". We explain more to you below!

This has been the analysis of the 2018 vintage in DO Navarra

From the section of Viticulture and Enology from the department of Government Rural Development of the provincial community (EVEN) have issued a positive analysis. This group evaluates the harvest from the point of view of viticulture and oenology. On the other hand, also the food division of INTIA, which focuses on the agronomic characteristics of the campaign, has given its evaluation. Thus, the grapes collected to make each bottle presented a optimal state with medium and high color intensity. Also with high alcohol content and acidity.

In that way, the vintage 2018 in DO Navarra has been rated as "good" by the CR of the Denomination of Origin, after tasting by specialized professionals. Compared to the vintage of 2017, wines reds have been similar with a high grade but acidity, color and minor structure. Instead, both white and pink have obtained similar parameters from the previous season, with a good aromatic profile and great valuation.

«The final result is optimal taking into account the complications caused by the weather conditions. Excellent wines of different grape varieties have been tasted, which will be to the liking of the consumer ", expressed the CR DO Navarre. In addition, a production increase of almost a 3% with respect to the average in the Denomination of Origin. Another good news.

Rains above the historical average

Indeed, the meteorology of the last campaign was difficult, since the budding of the vine was delayed around ten days compared to 2017, due to the cold and moisture. This was derived, above all, by the high amount of precipitation that were registered in Navarre lands. Data was reached higher than the historical average. In July, however, the trend changed due to warm temperatures, something that forced us to act with extreme care in the vines. They should avoid diseases that affected the crop.

Therefore, the vintage of the 2018 vintage in DO Navarra started a week later than usual, already in August, starting with the varieties of Small Grain Muscat grape. This collection lasted until the beginning of November in the Low Bank. Luckily, the grapes taken from the vines turned out to be of quality to later produce good reds, whites and rosés. Soon you will be able to purchase any of the commercialized bottles of this vintage 2018 in DO Navarra.
