A fraud falls in wines with DO Bierzo

An alleged sale of two million bottles within a fraud in wines with DO Bierzo and IPG Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León could have fallen. At least, that is how the indications that have led to the Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) of the Civil Guard to arrest four people as part of an investigation. For now, this Monday, May 20, the armed institute has reported this scam. The agents have registered several ships and homes located in the provinces of León, Ourense, Lugo and Pontevedra.

The truth is that this fraud in wines with DO Bierzo comes from months ago, going back to December 2018. It was in that month when the Regulatory Council Denomination of Origin Bierzo denounced the Servicio Marítimo Guardia Civil some irregularities found. But without having the proper certification seals, so they deceived the consumer.

Knowing all that, through eleven entries and records developed, the evidence they obtained was very clear of how the framework was assembled. Thus, equally abundant intervened documents, hundreds of thousands of counterfeit labels, other objects and even 335.000 euros.

The operation continued its course until this news of the latest arrests. Suspected criminals face crimes of continued fraud, fraud in wines with DO Bierzo, falsification, illegitimate use of quality seals and also money laundering.
