Bodega Comando G, unity is strength

Fruit of friendship, one of the best national wine productions has been born. The idea of three friends has managed to generate a wine legacy noteworthy. The Comando G winery a niche is being made among the most renowned production companies in all of Spain. The magnificent results are spreading, little by little, all over the world, even reaching the other side of the pond. Its characteristics and cultivation conditions have managed to generate one of the wines with the most flavor on the market. Sounds interesting right? After discovering all its secrets, you won't be able to wait to taste any of them.

Three in one letter: Comando G winery

This peculiar denomination has a very nice explanation, as well as singular. The G its name comes from three components that mark the seal and identity. This letter refers to Gredos, which is the place where the fruit is grown to give rise to the wine. It also has to do with the Granite, which is the type of soil where grape care takes place. And finally, it refers to the grenache, which is the variety of grape with which they obtain all their wines.

The birth of this winery has to do, without a doubt, with friendship. Fernando García, Daniel Gómez Jiménez- Landi and Marc Isart They decided to embark on a very complicated wine journey but one that has paid off. And it is that, in the midst of the economic crisis, they sought innovation in alternative strong and macerated wines. The old Garnachas have been his most faithful ally, especially thanks to the excellent conditions that the lunatic landscapes of the Sierra de Gredos have. Even, Heading North 2016, his most sought-after production, has been awarded 100 Parker points.

A wide field

The history of this winery begins in navarrevisca, a small town in the province of Ávila. It was the first treasure found by these three friends, who later became two when Isart decided to leave the association. Then they chose to get a little closer to the town where they later established their winery, which is Glass Gallows. On a plot of more or less half a hectare on granite soils they settled their second farmland. The Roses of Puerto Real was the chosen area.

Along with that, they would find more gems in the Tomb of the Moorish King, in the Alberche Valley with granite soils and in La Brena, on clayey area. The latter marks a strong contrast, because it offers deeper and stronger wines, although always made with Garnacha.

The greatest virtue of the Comando G winery

One of the keys by which the Comando G winery has had exponential growth has been due to the good work of its partners. Besides the excellent quality of its Garnacha grapes and riqueza of its granite soils. The company manages about 50 monthly installments of this land, although it only has owned 21 of them. And, of the 5.000 bottles that they were making when they rented the Cadalso winery, have gone on to 70.000 in just over 2 years. A growth that can only be explained from the perspective of work and market vision.

The bulk of its production corresponds to La Bruja de Rozas- "came from the town" - and "Wine from a place" Rozas 1º Cru, Burgundian concept, from the same town. The rest of the catalog of this winery is of very limited production. Therefore, they are somewhat more complicated wines to obtain. It should be noted that the price of bottles has risen in recent times. Has passed from € 125 to € 200, although this speculation does not like their owners, as they have affirmed themselves to the magazine Fuera de Serie.

The connecting link

It is difficult to frame the production of the Comando G winery with established geographical indications of origin. This is so because some of their wines belong to the DO Wines of Madrid, while others to VT Castilla y León. It all depends on the exact town where the grapes are obtained to make the wine. Although they prefer to talk about the Sierra de Gredos, understood as a geographical area that unites all its products. It is the connecting link.

Due to its minority production, there are many lovers of good drink who are left wanting to try its exquisite 100 Parker point wine: Heading north. And, as we have mentioned before, its price was doubled because of the shortage. But, thanks to the call effect that this product has caused, many investors and wine groups They are knocking on the door of these friends, thus gaining more ground. And therefore one more ample harvest.
