The Jumilla DOP winner of the Vino Es Cultura award

La Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers, has awarded the Jumilla DOP with the Vino Es Cultura 2023 award. The Jumilla DOP has been awarded for the “Art and Wine Dialogues” project at the Great Communication Dinner, held last night at La Masía de José Luis, in Madrid .

The first prize was for the cultural and promotional work of the Jumilla DOP for Art and Wine Dialogues. Among other winners from leading oenological projects such as Tempos de Vega Sicilia, which won the first second prize, and Perelada, which won the second second prize. The award presented by Maria Gimenez, director of the awards and presented by Mary Ritter, director of the Repsol Guide. The award was collected by Esther González de Paz, head of communication for the Jumilla DOP Regulatory Council. Also by José Ángel Cuenca, from Casa Jaleos, the Murcian creative communication agency and director of the project.

The jury is made up of relevant personalities from the world of Art and Culture. It's made of Angela Vallvey, writer and winner of the Nadal Prize; Mary Ritter, director of the Repsol Guide; Pablo Jimenez Burillo, creator of Fundación Mapfre and Official of Arts and Letters of France. Also for John Duyos, fashion designer; David Janer, actor; Javier Gállego Jane,  José Manuel Casaño singer ; Jose Luis Murcia, president of the AEPEV; and Maria Gimenez, director of the awards.

Art and wine in the Jumilla DOP


In the words of María Giménez, director of this award, “Diálogos de Arte y Vino is a commitment of the Regulatory Council of the PDO Jumilla which combines craftsmanship, gastronomy and creativity, to show the art of viticulture. All this leads to a useful sculpture with soul.”

Among her words of gratitude at the award ceremony, Esther González de Paz mentioned her gratitude to the association for “giving visibility to the Jumilla DOP. The union of people, objectives and survival of a protected, historical territory, with more than 5.000 years of wine culture. Pioneer in Spain in organic farming.”

The project of the DOP Jumilla, Art and Wine Dialogues: La Vendimia It is an audiovisual piece divided into three parts: the Encounter, the Inspiration, and the Piece. These parts narrate the different meetings in which the protagonists, speaking about the grape harvest, collaborate to create an artistic piece. It is a figure of craftsmanship, which represents the union of agriculture, the philosophy of listening to the earth. Also with concepts such as biodynamics, the lunar calendar, or the philosophy of Plato's banquet "eat, drink and talk about love." All of this materialized in a ceramic piece called “Transition” that represents the grape harvest.
