Belight, the wine with fewer calories

The well-known Latin American winery Concha y Toro Vineyard has launched a wine low in calories and alcohol. In search of the consumer who values a healthy life but who does not want to lose the pleasure of a good wine. With this launch of two wines called Belight, the winery wants to seduce this public and continue with the values of quality.

Belight is a wine that has 27% fewer calories, that is, only 65 calories per 125 ml glass. It has been launched after identifying that the young and female public demand wines with low calories and low alcohol content as they seek increasingly healthy products.

The Viña Concha y Toro winery that produces and markets the well-known Casillero del Diablo brand will now also do so with the Belight suffix. Two wines will be marketed, one white and one rosé. On the one hand, the Belight Sauvignon Blanc has a pale yellow tint and citrus aromas with hints of herbs and peach. The rosé wine has aromas of wild berries and subtle floral notes with fruity flavors that balance the acidity, according to what the winery tells us.

Belight, the ability to adapt to the consumer

The marketing director Sebastián Aguirre, comments. “Although there has been a change in preferences, people still want to enjoy experiences around the consumption of wine. That's why Belight is a great option." Aguirre adds “A glass of Sauvignon Blanc normally contains 89 calories. Our new offer includes a 27% reduction in calories compared to a traditional drink. All this without sacrificing the outstanding characteristics that have made Casillero del Diablo a world-renowned wine”

To make this wine, in addition to having the most advanced technology in oenology such as liquid and gas chromatography, the raw material must be special. To do this, grapes are harvested from areas where these varieties ripen earlier in the season. This makes it possible to obtain grapes with a lower sugar content and, therefore, a lower alcohol content through a 100% natural process.
