Cannes Rosé World Cup

It is known to all that rosé wines are in fashion, whether they are normal, sparkling or cavas. Its consumption and international prestige is increasing. It is also one of the most attractive wines for the highly valued young and female consumer. This is the reason why Union of French Winemakers wanted to pay tribute to this color and created the Cannes rosé world cup. In this way, a contest exclusively reserved for rosés from around the world is organized each year.

In this year's contest they have presented more than 1300 samples of rosé wines from 25 countries that are valued by 67 tasters of 18 nationalities. The tasting is carried out blind by an average of five tasters per sample. In this World Cup you can get two types of medals, the silver medal and the gold medal. Of the latter, up to eight Spanish wineries they have been awarded for their elaborations.

Spanish golds at the Cannes rosé World Cup

In this 2019 contest, several Spanish wineries have achieved the much prized gold medal. Thus, the winners have been two wineries belonging to the DO Ribera del Duero: the Winery The Assumption Of Our Lady -with its Claro de Morozán pink 2018- and the San Roque de la Encina Winery -with his Monte Pinadillo limited edition 2018-. For its part, the DO Cigales has obtained three golds. Its award-winning wineries have been Bodegas Ovidio Garcia -with Pinedo Meneses 2018- and the Sinforiano Wineries -with two golds with Sinfo 2018 and Quelías 2018-.

For its part, the DO Campo de Borja has also won gold thanks to the Borsao winery, with Borsao Grenache. A dorado has also gone to the DO Cariñena, with Sanvalero Wineries and his Castillo Ducay rosé wine. Finally, it could not be missing in this Cannes rosé world cup an elaboration of the DO Rioja. A wine from the Tobia wineries -Tobía Luz de Luna pink 2018- has added its particular gold medal.
