La Sirena, sustainability award

La Sirena has been recognized by the organization Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) All this for its essential work promoting sustainable fishing during the past year, 2022. With this, the leading Spanish frozen food chain has received the award in the III edition of the Mares Forever Awards. It has received it in the category "Revelation supermarket in sustainable fishing”. All after having doubled the number of product references marketed with the MSC blue seal.  

It should be noted that last March La Sirena became the first distribution brand to launch its own chopped squid, a frozen product certified under the MSC seal. This new product comes from the cephalopod fishery in the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, he obtained his certification in the summer of 2020.

The awards ceremony took place on June 9 in San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, in a session at the Kursaal. In this way, the initiatives of La Sirena for promoting sustainability in the fishing sector have been recognized. helping consumers to have access to fish products with sustainable guarantees.

Sustainability: key in La Sirena's strategy

La SirenaAs part of the initiatives of its SaveTheOceans project, its objectives are the progressive elimination of the use of non-recyclable plastic materials. All of this applies to all of its processes, products and services. Through actions such as the replacement of non-biodegradable plastic bags with 100% biodegradable bags, and promote the use of recyclable packaging to make purchases.
