Can keto wine exist without carbs or sugar?

We have already referred on a previous occasion to the keto diet. In this article we explained why more and more people restrict their consumption of carbohydrates. Within these, the sugars They are the main group to avoid. For this reason, and due to the rise of conscious eating, the number of consumers concerned about its impact on our body is growing. Thus, the number of products that you can find under the "sugar-free" label is increasing. Even the wine!

But does this denomination respond to a scientific criteria or one of marketing? The truth is that the companies that advertise it move in a fine line when interpreting the regulations. Technically, the keto wine it cannot exist. In other words, sugar forms an essential part of winemaking. All wines have sugar, although not in the same proportion. The wine comes from must. The yeast They are responsible for fermenting it and converting the sugars naturally present in the grape into alcohol. The later the fermentation stops less sugar y more booze will have. Thus, we find four different categories of wine that will surely sound familiar to you: dry, simian, sweet and semi-sweet. Whether a bottle belongs to one class or another will depend on the amount of sugar it contains. The dry one is the one that contains the lowest percentage: only four grams per liter.

Conclusions

Technically, according to european regulation, is considered "sugarfree" If the level of this does not reach the five grams per liter. What happens is that it is a nutritional declaration to attract a public concerned about healthy eating. This is not legal, since beverages with an alcohol content greater than 1% can only make declarations of this type in two cases. Only "those referring to low alcohol levels or reduced alcohol or energy content"

Therefore, we could say that the keto wine does not exist. It will always have some sugar because wine is like that. It is therefore misleading to label wine as "sugar free" as a way of complaint. That is why we think it is important to share this information so that you can decide what you consume and how with more insights.
