DO Cigales completes the harvest

The forecasts at the beginning of the harvest in the DO Cigales have been fulfilled, reaching 8.029.155 kilos of grapes. 40% more than the previous season, which barely reached 5,7 million kilos. The campaign was inaugurated in Cubillas de Santa Marta on September 24 and ended on Saturday, October 27.

More than 30 days from the collection of a fruit that has entered with very good quality and health.

The Technical Director, Águeda del Val, points out that “the good raw material and the good work of our professionals will ensure that we have a generous harvest in production and of excellent quality”.

Most of the white and rosé wines are in the process of stabilization and are characterized by being aromatic and balanced.

The reds are structured and have a very good layer. It is expected that. They are long-lived due to the quality of the grapes collected and the low pH.

The Tempranillo variety is the most abundant in the DO Cigales. This variety accounts for the bulk of the grape, specifically, 86% of the total.

The white grapes used for both whites and rosés account for 6% of the grapes harvested.

A grape that has been gaining prominence in recent years is the Garnacha, not in terms of quantity, which barely exceeds 1%, but in its elaborations. Currently, it complements the mix of varieties in rosés if not used as a single varietal. it incorporates interesting nuances to the Cigales Denomination of Origin family.
