Cuenca's 2023 gastronomic capital, a hard-fought triumph

But the truth is that for Cuenca it is a hard-fought victory since they had reached the final in 2017 where they lost to Huelva and in 2018 where the winner was León. On this occasion and with its current proposal that they titled "Cuenca Deliciosa" it has captivated everyone and will relieve Sanlucar de Barrameda. This proposal has been supported by the Cuenca City Council and the Cuenca Provincial Council.

All this is a great opportunity for Cuenca and its entire province to value all its gastronomy. In this way they will be able to know their products, producers and chefs of the province. A gastronomy where the simplicity and quality of its products are the main actors. Dishes such as ajoarriero, mortaruelo, migas de pastor, zarajos and mojete to give a few examples stand out. These elaborations for some unknown are important in our gastronomic culture and now we have more reasons to taste them in the Spanish gastronomic capital 2023. In addition, Cuenca has had a great evolution in recent years in many of its chefs. All this will be a great opportunity for gastronomic tourism and its producers and processors as an element of promotion and economic development.

In addition, all the benefits of the events and acts that are carried out on the occasion of the gastronomic capital will be donated to the Cuenca associations that work with vulnerable groups.
