We resume our review of our main white grape varieties while they are harvested these days in most of the denominations of origin. Discover below others five types and what are your characteristics, as well as the regions where they are grown.

Merseguera

It is one of the main varieties of the DO Valencia. This variety predominates since Tarragona but also Alicante. It has a large and compact cluster. Its maturation is late and it is resistant to drought. Balanced acidity produces alcoholic wines. It is a good variety for young wines providing good aroma and passage in the mouth, as well as to elaborate stale wines and spirits.

minor

It is the variety of White grape of the Balearic Islands and predominant in the DO Binissalem. Its bunches are medium and not very compact. Fresh and fruity wines are produced and also sparkling wines.

Muscat, popular with white grape

This variety is well known and widespread in the Iberian Peninsula. It predominates in the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Malaga. Its high sugar content and its fineness make it a variety suitable for the consumption of table grapes. Its bunches are large and not very compact. Its maturation is early and it is resistant to drought. It has fruity and citrus aromas, it is ideal for sweet wines, liqueurs and to be in the barrel producing really excellent wines.

Perlino

Also known as Fine Palomino, is one of the varieties of White grape main wine Jerez. Although widespread in the western peninsula, this variety is basic in the DO Jerez, DO Manzanilla de Sanlucar and County of Huelva. Its cluster is large and compact. This variety withstands drought well and is late maturing. It produces very sweet grapes that make excellent fine, fragrant wines and white wines.

Linnet

It predominates in the areas of Extremadura and Castilla La-Mancha. It is a variety with a medium bunch, resistant to drought and undemanding on the ground. It has good productivity but is not very aromatic, for this reason it is used to make blends.

Parellada, white grape in Catalan lands

Widespread by Catalonia and their designations of origin. It is part of the varieties to elaborate digging. It has good productivity, although it is sensitive to drought and frost due to its early budding, but it adapts very well to altitude. Its clusters are large and somewhat compact. With it are produced fresh wines and cavas, citrus and with a medium acidity.
