Change the consumption of meat and fish

According to the latest report of aecoc by Shopperview the consumption of meat and fish has changed. The main cause is the inflation suffered by the economy and the search for solutions by the consumer. Specifically, according to the report, 82% of meat and fish consumers have changed their purchasing habits to reduce the cost of purchasing these products.

In the case of the purchase of meat products, 46% of consumers state that they are looking for promotions and offers on these products. The consumer also decides to reduce the purchase of meat and 26% decide at the time of purchase to change the type of meat they buy.

Regarding the purchase of fish, the solutions that the consumer seeks to alleviate inflation are very similar to those for meat. In this way, promotions and offers are sought in 42% and it is decided to reduce the purchase in 30% of the cases. In the case of fish, consumers have switched to buying frozen fish by 27%, significantly increasing the purchase of frozen products.

Reasons for the change in consumption of fish and meat.

The economic motive in the current context leads to the search by the consumer for solutions for their shopping cart. And it is that according to Aecoc 42% of the factors that the consumer takes into account at the time of purchase are economic.

Other important elements that the report highlights at the time of purchase, in addition to price, are quality, since 39% of consumers do not mind paying more for higher quality. 20% of consumers are motivated to buy healthy products. Finally, 13% have novelties or innovative products as their reason for purchase.
