El Celler Masroig, winery of the DO Montsant and very dynamic in carrying out wine tourism activities, will present on Saturday November 17 the Young Wine 2018. It will be at a party that has already become a tradition. This year it will feature the singer Joan Reig, who will be the godfather and will welcome this first wine of the season. It is the ninth edition of the Celler Masroig Young Wine Festival. This time the schedule changes (it will start at 18:30 p.m.) in order to reach a wider audience.
The pig, protagonist
Annually, the Celler Masroig presents a new image for its Young Wine. The one of 2018, as in other editions, returns to revolve around the pig. This year it is linked to the saying “Every pig gets its San Martín”. On the label you can see this pig in a very synthetic way. Through the halo of the saints, he brings us the sacrifice and subsequent martyrdom. It is, therefore, a literal and satirical union of the two concepts.
In order to preserve identity and keep traditions alive, the Celler Masroig bet every year for its Young Wine. Thus, it reaches a limited production of 10.000 bottles. This wine is fresh, fruity and honest with an intense and bright ruby color. Aromas of red fruit, mainly cherry and strawberry, are complemented by lactic notes. On the palate it shows softness and freshness, with some sweet notes. It is a velvety wine, with a long aftertaste.
El Young Wine 2018 he is popular and a friend of revelry or tradition. It's a blend with varieties of Garnacha and honey, that combines with all kinds of food related to pork. The elaboration is 100% carbonic maceration. It is a 'vinification' technique where whole grapes ferment at high temperatures, up to 30º, without oxygen.
