The new Beronia winery dedicated to Reserve and terroir wines in Rioja has become an example of sustainability. The Por El Clima Community has recognized this Rioja winery among the 10 companies and 10 SMEs that develop better decarbonization strategies.
Beronia Rioja and specifically his new winery was already the first to achieve the highest recognition for sustainable construction. The so-called LEED V4 BD+C:NC and LEED Gold rating, the highest recognition for sustainable construction awarded by the “US Green Building Council”.
In this way, the Beronia winery is consolidated as one of the most sustainable wineries in the world. A business example for the environment by representing a transformation of the economy and society, as well as generating opportunities for growth and employment. All under a long-term vision where sustainability has been put at the service of winemaking, the territory surrounding the winery, its employees and visitors.
Efficiency and sustainability in Beronia Rioja
The winery is unique, it has been completely integrated into the Rioja landscape. It has a revolutionary system for harnessing geothermal energy to air-condition the facilities and achieve lower energy consumption. The use of three renewable energies (aerothermal, photovoltaic and solar thermal), and the technological innovations that it treasures, such as the “Cleanwood” system, make it one of the most efficient and sustainable wineries.
Road and industrial engineers, architects, ecologists, hydrogeologists, experts in indoor environmental quality, and physicists, among others, have participated in this project. The entire winery represents a holistic approach in the creation of a place, where all the elements that compose it affect the future of the wines that are produced.
From the machinery, fermentation tanks and barrels, as well as the building itself, they have a single objective, the creation and production of unique wines. In addition, all this accompanied by a great location and layout on the ground, the quality of its materials faithfully express the essence of this wine region and promote moments of enjoyment among friends.
