Given the alert for botulism, Grupo Palacios Alimentación, which points to the company as a possible cause, has published an informative note. In it he announces that he is withdrawing his tortillas from the shelves and asks that they not be consumed. At the moment there are seven cases of botulism of which three have needed to go through the ICU.
Grupo Empresarial Palacios Alimentación has voluntarily decided, as a precaution, to remove from the shelves of the points of sale the fresh packaged potato tortilla produced in the Mudrian factory. Also temporarily stop its manufacture, as this product is associated with confirmed botulism cases in recent days.
Until now, "it has not been possible to establish evidence, neither in the products nor in the processes, that relates cause and effect" with respect to our company as a manufacturer of the product. As stated on Tuesday in an informative note by the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN).
For now, the inspections at Palacios Alimentación have given a favorable result.
The company has taken all necessary measures to detect a possible cause. The facilities have already been inspected four times by the health authorities with favorable results.
Business Group requests all those who have purchased one of these products (Palacios, Chef Select, Auchan, Eroski, Unide, Consum, DIA, Essentials, Condis, El Corte Ingles, Carrefour, Alipende, Grupo IFA, Rikissimo, Netto, Salling, Intermarche, Naysa, Gestus and You like) refrain from consuming it. Also that they proceed to return it to the point of sale where they purchased it, where the amount will be refunded.
Food safety is a priority for the Palacios Alimentación Business Group. And in this regard, it regularly carries out control analyzes for the presence of Clostridium botulinum and botulinum toxin. These analyzes are part of the self-controls carried out in the company to reinforce the safety of its products. In no case has the pathogen or its toxins been detected in any of the products.
Grupo Empresarial Palacios Alimentación is collaborating with the health authorities to clarify this episode as soon as possible. Palacios apologizes to its clients for any inconvenience this disorder may have caused.
