Andalusia launches “Gusto del Sur”, its quality brand

The Junta de Andalucía launches a new quality mark and cancels the previous one, the so-called Certified Quality. The name chosen on this occasion is Taste of the South and it is created for the promotion and enhancement of the quality of Andalusian agri-food and fishing products. The objective is to give a renewed and current air to the differentiation in the markets of distinctive quality and its national and international dissemination. To this end, advertising and communication activities as well as promotion will be launched throughout the European Union. With this purpose, the new quality brand “Gusto del Sur” is created as an institutional image.

The new brand covers all agri-food and fishing products with a differentiated quality guarantee, that is, whose quality is higher than the required standards. The brand will be certified by accredited organizations, and under the supervision of the Andalusian Administration.

Gusto del Sur seeks quality and sustainable Andalusian products

The “Gusto del Sur” brand will give new impetus and a renewed air to the image of agri-food and fishing products produced in Andalusia. All this through a new graphic representation. In this way, the image is updated from a more innovative point of view in its graphics and easy identification in the labeling of an agri-food and fishing product. The brand is based on three crucial premises to compete and conquer markets: flavor, quality and sustainability.

In order to join the brand, it is necessary that they meet one or more of these requirements:

  • That have a Protected Designation of Origin (DOP), Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (TSG). Geographical indications of spirit drinks (IGBE), Geographical indications of aromatized wine products (IGPVA) and Traditional wine terms.
  • Optional quality terms recognized by EU regulations.
  • Ecological production
  • Integrated Production
  • Products covered by specifications or product standards recognized by the General Directorate responsible for agri-food quality and that are validated by the European Commission, in which product quality requirements that are more demanding than those established for their production are certified. commercial quality.
  • Let them be artisanal agri-food and fishing products

Products with objective quality requirements established by a private protocol (e.g. Global GAP)
