La Royal Academy of Gastronomy has started preparations for the 43rd edition of the National Gastronomy Awards 2017. These recognize the work of the best professionals linked to the gastronomic sector during this year.
A few weeks ago the first meeting of the jury was held to study the proposals. Thus, they closed a list of nominees with three candidates per category. A more difficult task every year due to the great professionals that we have in our country. Also to the great moment that our sector is experiencing. The National Gastronomy Awards 2017 they continue to triumph.

In the coming weeks a second and final secret vote will be held for these National Gastronomy Awards 2017. Thus, a single winner will be chosen in each of the categories. In it, the members of the jury will send their votes directly to a notary public who will be in charge of carrying out the final count.
The jury has awarded the Special Prize to José Gómez, for the extraordinary work of Joselito in the dissemination of Iberian ham outside our borders. In this category, Higinio Gómez (Pollería Hermanos Gómez, Madrid) and José Gordón (El Capricho, León) were also proposed.
The Lifetime Award will be received by Vicente Castelló Pérez, founder of Nou Manolín for more than 40 years. It is the pioneer and emblematic gastronomic bar. Along with him, they also proposed Alba Pau (Can Pau, Ibiza) and Julia Bombín (Asturianos, Madrid).
