With the onset of autumn, the color of the vineyards changes, giving way to its most important time: the vintage. Riverside of the Guadiana it is dressed in orange, red and ocher tones, offering wine tourism activities. A) Yes, 'The colors of the vintage' is an initiative organized by the Ribera del Guadiana Wine Route. It collaborates with the Diputación de Cáceres through the Sustainable Development and Tourism Area.
The objective is to bring the different activities of the Route to the locals and visitors. Therefore, we want to sensitize public and private agents. All in order to advance in the extension of the main Extremadura wine tourism proposal in the province.
Celebration of this vintage festival
'The colors of the vintage' It will take place in various points of interest in the province of Cáceres. Among them are the cities of Cáceres, Alía, Cañamero, Casar de Cáceres, Guadalupe, Romangordo, Riolobos, and Trujillo. But also wineries like Dehesa Vieja, Carabal, and Ruiz Torres. These last two are in the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Unesco World Geopark.
The activities are organized in thematic blocks. From nature, gastronomy and culture, to cheeses, ham or literature. Because from the Route and the Sustainable Development and Tourism Area they bet on the transversality of this wine tourism product.
Gastronomic activities
Among the first actions, the enogastronomic action 'With cheese and wine the path is made' stands out. This will take place in Riolobos on September 29. Includes a guided visit to the Dehesa Vieja winery, located in Pajares de la Rivera (Riolobos).
Also a walk through the town of colonization, as well as a pairing of its best wines with four types of cheeses. With special prominence are the popular Torta del Casar PDO or those of the 'Doña Francisca' Cheese Factory in Casar de Cáceres.
The next activity will take place from October 11 to 14 in Cañamero under the name 'Extremadura Vinum Festival'. It is a Roman Wine Festival to enjoy tastings, tastings and pairings of the Route's wines. Along with it, there are other gastronomic products from Extremadura. On the other hand, Roman culture and history is the common thread in an original and entertaining way.
