Two Torres wines, two origins, two Bacchus

Grans Muralles 2011 is a unique wine, with an unmistakable character. It is born at the foot of the walls that protected the Poblet Monastery. The stony slate soils and the varieties that make it up make up its identity. A mix of native Catalan varieties, among which are two ancestral varieties that the Torres Family has managed to recover.

The low rainfall and high temperatures during the grape ripening period in 2011 have contributed to the aromatic intensity of this wine. It has also been distinguished with a gold medal in other international competitions such as Mundus Vini and Decanter Wine Awards.

Milmanda 2014 is one of the most awarded chardonnays in Spain. It comes from the vines that the Torres Family planted in 1980 in Conca de Barberà. At the foot of the castle that gave the wine its name, on deep clay-calcareous soils that favor the optimal development of the chardonnay.

In addition, the moderate temperatures of the summer months and the somewhat more abundant rains during 2014, contributed to a slow and progressive ripening of the grapes. Resulting in a wine of great elegance and finesse.

Marimar Estate Mas Cavalls Pinot Noir 2013 comes from an 8 hectare vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. Marimar gave the name of Doña Margarita in honor of her mother. The proximity of the Pacific Ocean, just ten kilometers away, provides the ideal climate for pinot noir, with cool breezes and morning fogs.

The low yields and intensive care of the vineyard contribute to a better balance of the grapes. In this way, more refined and elegant aromas result.

The Bacchus International Wine Competition is organized annually by the Spanish Union of Tasters. It is sponsored by the International Organization of Vine and Wine and by the World Federation of Great Wine and Spirits Competitions.
