Mushroom season: forecast and 'hunters'

In a very localized but active way, the mushroom season has started in those points where they come out, basket and razor in hand, the seekers of this great product that nature offers. Always with the knowledge about which ones to take and which ones not to avoid risks, the debate about the harvest is open. Because there are popular areas where these grow mushrooms and where even entire families come to collect the precious food. So, both forests as mountains will also be filled this year with 'hunters', although the campaign is delayed in some regions.

The zones top in mushroom season

With the start of mushroom season, one of the most precious of Spain and even Europa is variety cep (Boletus edulis). It is also known as pumpkin mushroom, by the color of his orange hat. It can already be collected in certain peninsular areas, even if it is from October or with the arrival of autumn when this practice is most abundant. Above all, at those points top full mycology, where many people pre-book a rural accommodation. In those nearby towns to go to the spaces where they grow up.

Of course, this birth must occur in excellent weather conditions characterized by a lot of water, mild temperatures, the absence of frost and extreme heat. But sometimes, despite the unfavorable weather to a certain extent, also some major 'seteras' regions sprout. Thus, fungi can already be observed where the Rain have been more widespread, as in the Pyrenean region Alta Ribagorça (Lérida), the Val d'Aran or the Ripollès. Other ideal spaces for mushroom season are Ultzama Valley (Navarra), the pine forests of Navalen (Soria), the region of Bergueda (Barcelona), the town of rabanales (Zamora) and gorbea. This last enclave is a natural park between Álava and Vizcaya, a Basque paradise where the aforementioned pumpkin mushrooms abound. While lovers of this product wait for the strong month of its collection, the only previous estimate is already known in Catalonia. Production is expected in the mid-line of the last 20 years, with 60 kilograms per hectare, among all species. This is how the Center for Forest Science and Technology of Catalonia (CTFC).

Two issues in debate

Sources of this center consulted by The Newspaper of Catalonia believe that the intense heat and low rainfall in summer are delaying mass collection. Therefore, this beginning of mushroom season it is timid, being able to boost with the rains of this September, which have already left important liters. But amid all this context, they return to the scene Two issues:

Is a major regulation of this practice? ¿Access must be limited to the forest and mount to avoid crowds? Some areas grant permits or cards, but others do not. The debate It continues on the eve of autumn, the intense fungus season.
