It should be remembered at this point in its history that the rum already existed in the Canary Islands before the famous Caribbean became so popular. When the Spanish colonists discovered the latter upon reaching America after the discovery of the continent by Christopher Columbus, the archipelago was already growing sugar cane. This was originally from The India and it was carried on transoceanic expeditions to the New World.

In search of softness

What later led to the production of rum in El Caribe and countries where it became an emblem (as is the case of Colombia) was possible thanks to Canarian cane seedlings that were exported to these lands. And why did the islanders decide to add honey to rum? Well, they simply wanted to enjoy the distillate with a milder flavor and not as potent like the one that existed at that time.

To drink a glass with the greatest guaranteed pleasure, it is best to mix it with lemon or lime, although the piña colada is another mythical companion. It gives it an even more special touch. If you have a daring palate, beyond the most common (which is to drink it with Cola), you can choose grenadine. Even in a mojito it looks great.

A special sweet touch

It is clear that the great protagonist of this drink is the sticky and thick paste that is born in the honeycombs of bees. A gastronomic delicacy that brings a very special sweet touch to the Ronmiel from the Canary Islands, which must contain at least one 2% in volume of miel from bee.

Although it may seem a really low percentage, the truth is that in its flavor those sweetening notes. Intense, unctuous and smooth on your palate, this rum has an aftertaste that will captivate you as soon as you taste it because among rums it has no comparison. Its other ingredients are cane brandy and also cane molasses or its distillates, as well as sugars, water and plant extracts.

Its industrial production faithfully preserves the methods of the artisanal process with which this high quality spirit began to be created with IGP since 2005. This seal protects it throughout the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, so you can find this drink in any corner of the archipelago. Depending on the type of bottle, it has a alcohol content that can go from 20 to 30%.
