Lovers beer and the wine are in luck. The brand of Mica beer just launched 'El Cotarro', your new vintage beer. It has done so in collaboration with the maintenance commission of the wineries of Roa Moradillo. Received the Award for the Best National Wine Tourism Initiative 2016 by ACEVIN.

The idea behind this beer is simple: combine the products of the land to create something unique. In this way, it binds with barley from Sourcenebro. The tempranillo grape comes from Paramo of Corcos de Moradillo de Roa (Ribera del Duero). They are neighboring towns of the province of Burgos. A vintage beer has been produced that reflects the character of the area where it was produced.

With barley and grapes from the land

It emerged as a test and a challenge. But now it has become a unique and attractive product. Vintage beer the cotarro by Mica has seen the light in the Fitur fair and in Madrid Fusion. There it has been possible to taste in the stands of Burgos Feeds.

The project was born in September 2017. An agreement between the Nacho Rincon, councilor of the city council of Roa Moradillo y John Cereijo, Manager Mica Brewery. They got together to organize a beer tasting in town. This is how the idea arises. Why not make a vintage beer to publicize The Cotarro of Bodegas de Moradillo and obtain funds for its recovery?

And said and done. A glass plot is selected in the Paramo de Corcos, where the vineyards of the municipality of Roa Moradillo.

Called 'Las Hoyadas' in this area 400 kilos of tempranillo grape with more than 40 years of history. In the last 9 years it has been used to make wines from the Luis Cañas Family at their Ribera del Duero winery. 'Domain of Cai', for over 30 years, was used by Bodegas Alyon of the Tempos Vega Sicilia Group.

The grapes are harvested and transported in crates to the Mica Brewery in Aranda de Duero. It is macerated cold, thus beginning the tests to produce a balanced grape beer.

A fresh and fruity beer from Mica

The result is a refreshing beer. Gold in color with pink touches, fresh aroma and flavor that combines the sweetness of barley. As well as the acidity of the grape and the bitterness of the hops. Ideal to accompany some suckling lamb chops roasted on vine shoots. Dish that perfectly identifies its land of origin.

The quality of the beer is endorsed by the numerous awards that the Mica beer to his credit. They recognize their good work and the viability of the project that they intend to finance and make known. This is due to the awards and nominations received in the last two years. This is how the city council of Roa Moradillo and his project bodegas de Moradillo.

And it is that in this town next to Sourcenebro, the landscape and heritage are not only preserved and enjoyed, but also drunk.
