It is probably the only whiskey immersed in a reforestation project of one of the most iconic trees in the north of the peninsula. What is DYC Doble Roble like?

The well-known Spanish brand has launched a new limited edition no less than curious. DYC Double Oak is a whiskey single malt double aging. This takes place in oak barrels and it is the second one that allows it to have a more caramel, oak and spicy taste. The 12 thousand bottles that will be put on sale are intended to evoke nature. DYC Whiskey: a spirit Verde

Its mission is to plant thousand oaks on Spanish soil to safeguard the biodiversity y air purifying. From the brand they assure that together they will release 100 million liters de oxygen daily to the atmosphere. Moreover, each of these trees emits enough oxygen per day as an adult for a person to breathe. The reforestation project is a tribute to nature that gives us so much and to which DYC Whiskey wants to thank. In fact, the bottle He also honors her by replicating the trunk of one of these.

Regarding the safeguarding of the environment, we can say that the brand highly values the number of reserves of the biodiversity of our country. The figure is 52 according to UNESCO. That is why they continue to bet on it. We say "continue" because their commitment to ecology is not something random. They can boast of energy self-sufficiency, since they have an energy cogeneration system. That is, a system by which electrical energy and useful thermal energy are simultaneously obtained.

This system increases efficiency and makes better use of fuel. The shocking thing is that the distillation plant only takes advantage of the 10% of the energy that is produced. The rest supplies the town of Small squares of Eresma (Segovia), where the distillery is located. In addition, it returns to itself river Eresma the excess water already filtered and purified so as not to contaminate it. It achieves this thanks to its water treatment system. Finally, it should be noted that it uses proximity products to make your drinks. In this way, it avoids the carbon dioxide emissions of transport.

Philosophy and history

This creation of DYC Whiskey, which costs almost 30 euros in El Corte Ingles, belongs to an exclusive collection. The Maestros Destiladores Collection is a compendium of special origin whiskeys craft. They are focused on the Spanish palate and maintain the essence of their Segovian land and Nicomedes Garcia, his founder.

Whiskey Distilleries and Breeding was born in 1959 in the mentioned town. The philosophy consisted in offering a much cheaper product than the one sold in Scotland without sacrificing quality. In fact, Nicomedes He had already been four years before in that country studying its production systems. It was in 1963 when he sold the first bottle. It was necessary to wait for the drink to age and to comply with all the regulations. It achieved a good acceptance and little by little it managed to be present in every bar and cafeteria in Spain.

It is currently an international brand that manufactures nine million bottles annually. Within these there is a great variety of products of different aging. A noteworthy one is the 15-year aging edition (DYC15) that it launched 60 years after its founding. This is part of the aforementioned Master Distiller Collection, as well as the twelve-year edition (DYC12).
