But what is "From Farm to Table"?

Its main premise is the sustainabilityIn addition to improved health of Europeans. An interesting initiative (which collides with the meat sector) is that of a mandatory nutrition label. The idea is to place it on the front of food packaging. In this way, the consumer would be informed with the intention of reducing their meat consumption. It is also intended to achieve a reduction in the consumption of processed foods and foods rich in salt, sugar and fat.

Another key idea of «From the Farm to the Table» it is the protection of bees. Advocates for improving the pesticide approval process. It also seeks to improve its application and comply with binding objectives that serve to reduce its use. Beyond the bees, also look for the animal welfare. A final goal more than necessary is the gradual elimination of caged hens.

Finally, we refer to the increase in the area destined to the ecological production. Between now and 2030 it should increase. However, the European Parliament has not specified a specific objective. It will also have to fight to increase the demand for these foods. «From the Farm to the Table» suggests that 25% of the agricultural area of the EU should be organic. Also that fertilizers should be reduced by at least 20%. The phytosanitary must do so by 50%.

What do you think? Do they seem objective realistic? Do you think that the objectives respond more to the demand for healthy and sustainable products or do they respond to business interests? Leave your opinion in the comments.
