The history of Sant Pau in Tokyo

Two decades ago Carme Ruscalleda together with her husband accepted the insistent proposal to open a restaurant in Tokyo with Yuji Shimoyana. His still current Japanese partner was amazed by the exquisite dishes at Sant Pau in Sant Pol de Mar and was convinced of the success in Japan. They opened 19 years ago in the Nihonbashi neighborhood of Tokyo and later moved to the current location of The Kitano hotel.

Although the statement does not explain the reason for the closure, it seems that the completion of Carme Ruscalleda's stage has been decisive. Also the crisis of many haute cuisine restaurants in Japan could have accelerated this decision.
